Born and raised in London, U.K., I made the move to Leiden, The Netherlands in 2015 to pursue my BSc in Psychology at Leiden University. Following this, in 2020, I successfully completed by MSc in Clinical Psychology from Leiden University, with my thesis focused on exploring the relationship between suicide and insomnia.
During my time at Leiden University, I had the opportunity to work closely with expats and international students. This experience allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life and understand the unique challenges that immigrants often face, such as homesickness, loneliness, and culture shock. This caused me to feel especially passionate about intersectionality, which has become a focal point of my current work. Through this, my work acknowledges that our experiences, and how they materialise in the therapeutic space, are impacted by sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, illness, and disability.
In 2021, I started working with Olivia as a psychologist and in 2022, we decided to expand into a larger office space at Stadhouderslaan in Den Haag, and became business partners of the Therapy with Olivia practice.
As someone who has experienced life as an expat and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I truly empathise with the kind of issues you might be experiencing. I’m particularly passionate about supporting expats, the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as individuals coping with chronic illnesses, long-term health conditions, and disabilities. Since beginning my work as a psychologist, I’ve also worked significantly with people experiencing grief - whether that be of a partner, family member, close friend, or pet - and loss - through divorce, miscarriage, loss of a job, moving country, and homelessness.
In my approach to therapy, I firmly believe in placing you, the client, at the heart of our work together. Combining this client-centred approach with cognitive behavioural techniques, as well as a background in psychodynamics, I aim to provide you with personalised care and support you on your journey of self-exploration. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space, where you can freely express yourself and find the growth and well-being you deserve.
